How do you go about selling your products through Amazon? What should be your strategy in selling on Flipkart and Meesho? How much efforts do you need to put in?
4 months ago, Shyam connected to us through a mutual friend. He is a young father to amazing toddlers and works in a IT firm based out of Hyderabad. He experienced first hand how easy it is to buy party decoration items online and do the decoration at home for major occasions such as his sons birthdays and his sister's anniversary. He liked the idea of setting party decoration online where he felt there is a great business opportunity while being part of people's party occasions.
We asked him with what all he wants us to help? He said he wants us to get him vendor code registered with these platforms. We collected his documents such as GST certificate, labour licence, email id and phone number and submitted in the format prescribed by FlipKart. We received vendor code within a day.
We then did update pick up address on the Flipkart portal. They verified this by confirmed in a day.
We went listing items by uploading photographs of the items and updating the details in the listing process such as size of the package, weight of package, which category this falls into and what's the name of the SKU (Stock Keeping Unit). There are two ways to do listing one is single listing and another is multiple listing. In multiple listing, we can list multiple SKUs in one go through a pre defined template downloaded from Flipkart vendor portal. We have two options to list, one is branded listing and another unbranded listing. For branded listing, we need brand registration certificate.
Once the listings are updated from our end, FlipKart's quality control team checks them and confirms if they are succesful. Post that, we need to upload inventory and price information to make listings live.
As soon as listings are live, we placed to place one sample order to our home address to check the flow end to end. Once we received the order, we can see in open orders tab. We can open and once we are ready after packing, we can update the status as ready to be dispatched. We needed to take 2 prints. One of the QR code and one of the invoice to be given to customer. QR code We pasted on the package for ready scanning by the pick up agent. Invoice we inserted in the package.
We realised we need packing material, preferably FlipKart's packing material so we ordered immediately. We also needed barcode machine to print the QR code on the invoice because the print from normal printer is vulnerable to damage.
Once we dispatched the order, orders history is reflected accordingly.
